Worcester Timelapse

Capturing the beauty and movement of my favorite places.

Living in Worcester MA from 2007 to 2017 I was lucky to see the transformation of a mostly collapsed industrial city to a burgeoning arts focused entrepreneurial hub. After my first few years living on the Main South campus of Clark University, I wanted to move even closer to the heart of downtown. I wanted to be as much a part of the revitalization of the city as possible, and living there seemed to be the best way to get involved. Over the years, I fell in love with the old buildings, run down storefronts, and the dangerous traffic patters of most intersections (yes I'm talking about you, Kelly Square). With the access to specialized camera & editing equipment I set out to capture some of the most iconic places in the downtown area of Worcester.

I've always loved visual mediums, but timelapse & hyperlapse photography were always my favorite way to see new places in an engaging and even magical way. Here is an amazing timelapse and hyperlapse video that set the standard for quality and creativity in this medium.

NIGHTVISION : This was the video that really turned me on to the time/hyperlapse style. It shows beautiful architecture throughout europe. Check it out and see how many buildings you can recognize .  If you are looking for more, this page has a handful of excellent examples.

Though I don't claim to be a pro, I found some success in creating a timelapses that show off the Heart of the Commonwealth, Worcester MA. I also learned a lot through the process. Refining my capture timing, framing of subject, camera settings and editing style I was able to see the city through a new lens. I hope you too can see the beauty of the city that is lost on outsiders and residents alike.
